National Police Week - Never Alone, Never Forgotten.

National Police Week, which occurs each year during the week in which May 15 falls, recognizes the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

National Police Week is a collaborative effort of many organizations dedicated to honoring Americas law enforcement community. Principal organizers of National Police Week are:

* National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF), which sponsors the annual Candlelight Vigil at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

* Fraternal Order of Police/Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary (FOP/FOPA), which organize the Peace Officers Memorial Day Service at the U.S. Capitol.

* Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), which holds the National Police Survivors Conference.

They are one of the nations most renowned police motorcycle drill teams. And they came to DC for National Police Week to honor the 4 members of their department.

The Team put on few demonstrations for DC residents and National Police Week visitors to see.

On Saturday morning, with the U.S. Capitol as a fitting backdrop, the team performed on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.

The Philadelphia Highway Patrol offers Northwestern University certified motorcycle training and recertification to outside police agencies.

The Philadelphia police motorcycle training is an 80-hour(2 week) course held at the Philadelphia Police Training Bureau in Philadelphia, PA.

Participants are trained using their assigned motorcycles. Each day begins with one hour of class instruction followed by a series of courses that provide training in low speed maneuverability, evasive techniques and high speed braking skills.

They are also given instruction on street-related techniques including curve negotiation, managing hazardous conditions, car stops, as well as other important skills.
