Milwaukee is the largest city in the state of Wisconsin, US. The city is located in the southeastern portion of the state on the western shore of Lake Michigan.

Milwaukee is home to some of Americas most instantly recognized corporations such as Miller Brewing and Harley Davidson. Harley holds an enormous celebration on every fifth anniversary attracting riders (and celebrity riders such a Jay Leno) by the millions to Milwaukee each time.

Milwaukee was once the home to four of the worlds largest breweries (Schlitz, Blatz, Pabst, and Miller), and was the number one beer producing city in the world for many years. Miller Brewing Company is a key employer by employing over 2,200 of the citys workers. This has earned the city the nickname -Brew City- and its identification with and foundness for the stuff remains strong as ever.

Milwaukee has advertised itself as the -City of Festivals-, especially emphasizing an annual summer party along the lakefront called Summerfest. Listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as -the largest music festival in the world-, Summerfest attracts about a million visitors a year to its twelve stages. Smaller ethnic festivals throughout the summer celebrate Milwaukees strong German, Native American, African-American, Italian, Irish, Greek, Serbian, Croatian, Latino, Arabic, Asian, French and Polish heritage.

Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservancy, The Domes

Finding is as simple as looking south from interstate 94 between Miller Park and the Milwaukee lakefront. Sitting on bluffs across Milwaukees Miller Valley from the interstate, The Domes have been a fixture of the Milwaukee skyline for generations.

The Mitchell Park Conservatory has been part of the Milwaukee scene since the first conservatory was built in 1898. The original Milwaukee conservatory exhibited flowers in a greenhouse setting and served the public until 1955. Because it was determined to be unsafe and impractical to repair, the conservatory was demolished.

Floral Show Dome DedicationA design competition, won by a Milwaukee architect, produced the plans for the new, Milwaukee Domes, conservatory. Donald Griebs winning entry called for three beehive-shaped (not geodesic) glass domes, 140 feet in diameter at the base and 85 feet high, offering 15,000 square feet of growing space for plant display. Each dome has a distinct climate and exhibit plants in a naturalistic setting. The three Milwaukee Domes are the Desert, Tropical, and Floral Show domes.

Harley-Davidson Museum

Nearly 105 years in the making, the Harley-Davidson Museum, located near downtown Milwaukee, opened its doors to the public on Saturday, July 12, 2008. The 130,000-square-foot Museum adds a new dimension to the Harley-Davidson experience. Visitors will get a feel for the freedom, camaraderie and pride that Harley-Davidson riders experience every time they fire up their motorcycles.

Within the walls of the Harley-Davidson Museum you will find motorcycles and artifacts that tell the story of the Motor Companys rich history and heritage. Every gallery and exhibit is a testimony to the legendary bikes, the people who built them and, of course, every individual who ever felt their powerful rumble on a long stretch of asphalt.

Milwaukee Brewery

Milwaukee Brewery, one of the worlds largest, sits on land originally purchased by Miller founder Frederick J. Miller in 1855. Some 800 employees work round-the-clock here, producing 10 million barrels of our leading brands every year. The brewery offers free, one-hour indoor/outdoor guided walking tours, where visitors see each fascinating step of our brewing process. The tours, starting at the Visitor Center located at 4251 W. State St., include a fascinating stop in our Historic Caves, where Fred Miller himself meets and greets our guests; and conclude at the Bavarian-Style Miller Inn, where you can relax and enjoy a frosty beer sample (if you are 21 or older). Tours are generally available from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (CST) Monday through Saturday.
