A Blizzard Warning is in effect until 10 pm for central Maryland. Expect areas of blowing snow. Winds are expected out of the northwest at up to 35 miles per hour, with gusts that could 55 miles per hour. Light snowfall can also be expected through midnight, and significant blowing snow can be expected through Thursday.

This storm is similar to the one that hit last weekend, with the exception of more ice mixing in at the onset. Still, both branches of the Jet Stream will phase, or join forces off of the Mid Atlantic coast on Wednesday. The result will be a 10-20 inches of snow from Baltimore north, with a few higher amounts toward the PA state line.

The Winter of 2009-2010 will officially become known as Marylands snowiest winter of all time.

Regardless of how exact accumulations work out, this is still a truly historic from a meteorological standpoint. Baltimore just recorded it is second snow storm of more than 12 inches in the same season for the first time on record. This storm will be the third.

NEXT STORM: may approach as early as Sunday into Monday. While this may prove to be a weaker clipper type storm, it all depends on the possible coastal storm scenario in the same time frame!
