The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), a leading equestrian event in the U.S., celebrates its 53rd year in the nations capital in 2011. This championship event, drawing leading horses and riders from around the nation and the world, is one of the few remaining major metropolitan indoor horse shows and is the pinnacle of the annual equestrian season.
The show is attracting the attention of tens of thousands of equestrians, non-equestrians, celebrities and politicos alike with events such as show jumping, dressage, hunter and equitation competition, plus Kids Day, Barn Night, special exhibitions, shopping and hospitality.
Saturday, Oct. 29 Evening (7:00-10:30 pm)
You may spot a future Olympian among the riders in the WIHS Equitation Classic Finals, where the top junior riders compete for the championship. Show jumping culminates with the $100,000 Presidents Cup Grand Prix. This class will have the biggest jumps of all the classes and attracts the top horses and riders, including Olympic veterans.
