MARTIN LUTHER KING III - As the oldest son of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mrs. Coretta Scott King, Martin Luther King III has seized the torch lit by his parents and is continuing their quest for equality and justice for all people.
DR. CONDOLEEZZA RICE - a symbol of Empowerment of Women is credited with breaking several barriers which had been in the mans domain.
TULSI GABBARD - is the first Hindu-American and first female war veteran elected to the U.S. Congress.
The World Congress of Religions 2012 will explore the relevance of religion and spirituality in addressing the critical issues of poverty, the empowerment of women, human rights and peacemaking. The gathering will bring together engaged leaders, scholars, activists and members from diverse religious and spiritual communities, engaged actors in the local and global interreligious movements, as well as influential policy makers and civil society actors from guiding institutions such as government, business, education, science, media, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The event is inspired and informed by the message of the religious and social visionary, Swami Vivekananda, on the 150 th anniversary of his birth.
The Institute of World Religions of the Washington Kali Temple is dedicated to creating an environment where one can engage in discussions about theological principles, religious beliefs and spiritual practices, and fosters an interfaith search for shared values and mutual respect.
