Switzerland, officially the Swiss Confederation, is a sovereign state situated in the confluence of western, central, and southern Europe. It is a federal republic composed of 26 cantons, with federal authorities seated in Bern. The two global cities are Zurich and Geneva.

The Swiss National Day is the national holiday of Switzerland, set on 1 August. This day is celebrated each year with paper lantern parades, bonfires, hanging strings of Swiss flags, and fireworks.
